In order to perform a plumbing job, you need to have some basic tools in hand. It is not necessary to buy a lot of plumbing tools. Here are some basic tools that can get you started:
Pliers
Channel locks have replaced the pipe wrench that the plumbers used to carry with them for almost every type of job. These channel locks are very handy and quick. They work best in pair; one for stabilizing the pipe and the other for unscrewing it. Also, having a few different sizes can make projects much easier. Channel locks are my go to tool for almost all plumbing repairs.
Basin wrench
It is a self tightening wrench ad is ideal to tighten things at hard to reach places. It is suitable for changing out an old faucet in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry sink. The tool is handy and easy to use.
Pipe wrench
Although not as popular as they used to be, pipe wrenches are still a necessity for some jobs like unscrewing threaded fittings such as steel pipes. So having a few different sized pipe wrenches is a good idea.
Adjustable wrench
An adjustable wrench is used for removing angle stops, compression nuts and supply lines to faucets. They can also be used for other things like screwing on or removing a shower head so that the chrome does not get scratched during the installation or cleaning.
